First day in Paris

Today, after a big breakfast, we explored the subway and railroad systems in preparation for our trip to Poupry tomorrow. The operation was successful.

We then returned to the city centre to scout out our tour of the Eiffel Tower. We arrived on time and were off on our "skip the line" tour (we could not believe the lineup of people waiting to get in on what was a cold windy day).

Today our picture count was almost 300, so the job of selecting some for the page was difficult. They will probably change, but here is a quick preview.

These are some of the pictures taken around the Eiffel Tower

Sky scape from the top

That's us!

This is Sam's cool pic (through the barren trees).

We have a lot more.

...near the top.

...Arc De Triomphe, from the top.

Eiffel, on the right, is entertaining Thomas Edison in an apartment he had built at the top of the Tower. Edison presented Eiffel with a gift of his newly developed phonograph...the one pictured is the actual gift. These are life size figures in that space.

Melissa was our guide.

DS Cafe

We had lunch at a very nice little cafe just around the corner from the Tower. The lady in the picture with Sam was so nice, the food was great...and the washroom was extra clean.
