Tallinn, Estonia
This is a very old town.

A small country and a short stop.

We spent a few hours walking around the old town...quite interesting. The history of this area goes back to ancient times but most of what is seen today is medieval.

This day being our anniversary we went out to a specialty on-board restaurant and enjoyed a great Asian fusion dinner. We experienced some new foods and celebrated in style. We also met up with some very nice folks with whom we shared dinner the previous evening...Anthony and Maria.

A few pics follow...more to be added.

The mosaic murals above the front doors represent mosaic art at its best.

This is the Town Hall - the centre of activity in city. Above left are two dragons that are located near the roof line. (see above rt.)

To the left is the town square that is adjacent to the town hall. A lot of community events take place in this space.

Remnants of the old town, a house (top left), the original walls ( left) part of the old fort, from which some pictures on this page were taken and above, a medieval roadway with cobble stones. There is a smooth concrete walk along the right side to help old guys like us to get by.

This is truly a medieval church - it had the markings, like the statue to the right. If you look closely at the front of the church, shown on the left, it is the statue on the right hand side of the facade.

These three pictures are of the Oleviste (St. Olaf's) Church. The highest building in medieval Tallinn boasted of being the highest tower in the world (159 meters). The church dates back to about 1267. (more of the story of the church to follow)

I was not able to get the whole church in one picture.
