The principal city of the island and seat of the municipality (pop. 32,095) is also named Corfu...and to confuse matters, aka Kerkira. This is a very beautiful city with lots of antiquity to remind us of its rich culture and history.
Our ship berthed at the city docks and we set out on a self guided walking tour. We got lost a few times but we did eventually find our way back to the ship.

The Old Fortress - Work began on the fortification about the 8th c and was continued by the Venetians in the 16th c.
