After a sleepless flight and a few winks we were off on our first adventure:
We took the train from the airport to Central Station in downtown Copenhagen, just two minutes walk to the hotel. The transportation system is a marvel! |
|
This is our hotel, not fancy but it worked very well. The staff were very friendly. |
|
We went out for a quick walk of the city, in the rain! Following a guide Sam found on line we found the gay section and a quaint neighbourhood bar/cafe...Oscar. Feeling right at home, we enjoyed a very nice dinner.
Everyone in Denmark speaks English. Later we discovered that the Danes start English classes at the grade 3 level...next year they will start at the grade 1 level.
Returning to the hotel we slept for about 12 hours. In the morning we woke to our new place in the world. We were on the move early and went on a 'hop on hop off' tour. Here are some of the pics...a number taken through the window of the bus, those are not so good.

This fountain commemorates the goddess who turned her three sons into oxen in order to clear the land. All the land she could plough in one day would be hers. |

This tower of 4 entwined dragon tails is atop the Stock Exchange. |
