Las Ramblas (originally a watercourse) is a street in central Barcelona, popular with tourists and locals alike. A tree-lined pedestrian mall, it stretches 1.2 kilometers connecting Placa de Catalunya with the (Christopher) Columbus Monument at Port Vell, where our ship was docked.

These three pictures are of the Columbus Monument. Born an Italian, under the auspices of the Catholic Monarchs of Spain he made four voyages across the Atlantic that led to general European awareness of the American continents. |
