We were on the way to the train bright and early. The train departed Barcelona Sants station and 6.5hrs later arrived at Gare De Lyon station in Paris. When they refer to high speed trains, that's exactly what they mean. The train flew through the countryside sometimes reaching speeds of 299km/h, not providing much of an opportunity for pictures. The scenery was varied from coastal along the Meditteranean in Spain, some mountain foot hills (with the Alps off in the distance) to vast tracts of prairie farmland and vineyards through southern France. The weather varied from sunny to cloudy to rainy. The spring farmlands with their young growth took on a look of green velvet that stretched as far as the eye could see.
