My Bucket List

Education:

  • Website Development:
I have always wanted to have the skills to be able to create a presence on the web. I have now completed (fall of 2012) the course Website Development - WEBD 1000 at the Nova Scotia Community College. That goal is accomplished!
Since then I have put many hours into learning Dreamweaver (a web development tool) and Photoshop. These new skills are demonstrated on our main WebSite.

  • Database Management:
I have already built a few database systems in ACCESS that have worked very well. From my research into website development I understand that having a good working knowledge of SQL could be of some help. Over the next year I will be looking for options to gain knowledge in these areas; that is, building on my knowledge of Access and becoming familiar with SQL.

  • Economics:
It was a long time since I sat in a classroom to take this kind of course but I found myself frustrated because that is part of the current political environment that I did not understand. To satisfy that yen I completed the course "Economics 1102 - Principles of Macroeconomics" (winter 2013) at Dal. I did pass! I am not sure if I will go back for microeconomics?

  • Trans Education:
The world of the transsexual person is one that is not understood by most people. I believe there are many people in our community who would be very interested in learning about and trying to understand this segment of our population.
Over the past couple of years I was involved with a team of people developing a formal training course on the subject. All of that work has been turned over to NSRAP and I hope that, within the next year, they will be offering that training to the public.
